That is why managers must differentiate these terms and likewise know the organizational theories that provide bases for their management in the organization. Consequently, managers must know the system and trends in order to be more competitive in the current health model. In order to provide tools to the manager of the health system, a preliminary study is carried out with a qualitative approach consisting of 6 interviews applied to managers at the tactical level and first line of health institutions, with the aim of analyzing different categories through the software NVIVO 12, among which in this article four of them will be mentioned: academic experience, skills and competencies, health marketing and technological management in managers of health institutions in Colombia. Taking into account the 4 categories of selection, the present study shows us the importance in the management of the processes according to the managerial level and the complexity of the IPS in which the interviewees work, however, it is remarkable that the academic preparation and the work experience must go hand in hand to form and exalt the skills and abilities of managers according to their needs and those of the organization, noting that for each of them it has been a different experience and has had or not, the need to investigate in different areas beyond health and administration without leaving aside the vision and organizational mission
